Ontario premier, health, education ministers being tested for COVID-19
Premier Doug Ford, Health Minister Christine Elliott and Education Minister Stephen Lecce are being tested for COVID-19 after Lecce recently came into contact with someone with a confirmed case.
The province abruptly announced that Ford and Elliott would not participate in Wednesday’s daily news conference, just minutes before it was set to begin.
“Premier Ford and Minister Elliott will be getting tested today. Both will continue to monitor for symptoms and take appropriate action as necessary,” spokesperson Ivana Yelich said in a statement.
Ross Romano, the minister of colleges and universities, continues to hold Wednesday’s news conference.
Lecce has already been tested, though results are not yet available.
Yelich says the government will notify the public of the test results.
