Homicide detectives called in after deadly altercation in Downsview
One man is dead and another is under arrest following an altercation between two people in the area of Jane Street and Wilson Avenue Wednesday evening.
Emergency crews were called to a gas station at 1500 Wilson Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. for reports of an assault. Paramedics transported a man to hospital in life-threatening condition, and he died of his injuries.
Toronto police Det.-Sgt. Rob North told CBC Toronto that the victim was 36 years old.
He also confirmed that police found another man nearby suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. He has been arrested and will face charges.
Bob Ladak, the owner of the gas station, said the station is closed due to blood at the scene. He said he got a call around 9 p.m. about a fight nearby.
A truck driver delivering gas told the station attendant to call 911, Ladak told reporters early Thursday.
“He saw a person lying on the grass bleeding,” Ladak said.
