Camões Square Portuguese Pioneers Parkett win Toronto Garden Award

The City of Toronto held its annual Toronto Garden Awards on Wednesday evening. Among the various categories the Community Award was presented. Camoes Square/Portuguese Pioneers Parkett was chosen as a finalist. Dennis Nolasco of Dennis Nolasco Landscaping and Manuel DaCosta attended the presentation ceremony at the Toronto Botanical Gardens and were awarded first place in the Community Garden category.

This is a prestigious award and is emblematic of the hard work performed to preserve this small corner of Portuguese culture where the statue of Luiz Vaz de Camoes presides over the square and the Portuguese Canadian Walk of Fame has prominence within the Gardens. The presence of various aspects of our culture including murals and a water fountain were praised as examples of ethnically themed culture within the City of Toronto. Congratulations to all who contribute to preserve this little gem within the City of Toronto.
