O quão da realeza você é?

How Royal Are You?

Serão as alegacões verdadeiras?

Chama-se “Gone with the Windsor’s” (piada).

How Royal Are You?

Royalty has for centuries been at the forefront of governance and political discourse with most being ignorant or unsympathetic about their existence.  It is not for this editorial to review their place in history, but to review and understand the significance of the monarchy within today’s society.  Canada is a country who belongs to the Commonwealth of Nations which places its citizenry under the monastic umbrella currently led by Queen Elizabeth II.

Why does Canada need a Queen and be under the canopy of the British Empire?  Most would suggest that the current relationship is unnecessary and an investment which does not provide any returns, while others embrace the pomp and circumstance that royalty provides regardless of poor social examples that the royals epitomize.  Their personification as individuals who require a certain reverence because their altruistic approach to life, flies in the face of scandalous examples they embody as illustrated by recent examples.  The Royal family currently personify Kardashianist values enveloped by an historical aura that the suds of life have been unable to wash.  So why put these rich, righteous and self-serving individuals on pedestals to be idolized as angelic beings?

Accusations against Prince Andrew having sex with minors, and now claims of racism from Meghan Markle must be causing Prince Charles’ ears to flop even more with the realization that his future kingdom may be tainted by scandals that will compromise the virtues that the royal marketing machine has been selling for centuries.   The protectionist veil with which these pretentious people are covered with has been exposed.  Since Ms. Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, the “firm” has placed its deniability apparatus in high gear to counter the many accusations made.  Are all allegations true?  Perhaps not but it is an indictment of a home where very imperfect families live.  The Queen has hired a diversity chief to put icing on a rotten cake suggesting that despite the denials, there is some credibility to the regressive approach the Royals have for people coming into their family who do not have the right skin or blood color.  Princess Diana was not the first to experience the wrath of scoundrels who live in castles which hide the rotting historical demands of royalty.  It’s time for change and governments need to demand behaviours congruent with morals and values of our country.  Pretentious majesty is not sufficient to justify being considered the head of a headless ceremonial society which pretends to make a difference in the world.  Our political system which is based on the rules of the commonwealth of countries appears to be working when compared to other democracies, however that is insufficient to justify the adverse consequences that Royalty brings.

There is an epic movie coming out about Harry and Meghan abandoning the royalty and moving to Georgia to lead an agrarian life.  It’s called “Gone with the Windsor’s” (joke). Perhaps returning to the land to see how others live will be a positive development in the fiefdom ruled by the Windsor’s.

God save the Queen.
