Com o aproximar do final do ano, quantos de nós acreditam que 2021 será melhor e que valeu a pena experienciar 2020? Os hábitos adquiridos ao longo do último ano levarão bastante tempo a serem ultrapassados e fazem-me lembrar um cão a ser treinado. Uma vez definido o cronograma, este deve ser seguido mesmo que não seja algo natural à natureza humana. É claro que muitos ostentaram as regras de envolvimento e comunicaram aos restantes que o mundo gira à sua volta.
No final de cada ano, tentamos providenciar uma visão do mundo referente ao ano que passou. Será que a nossa opinião importa? Será que o mundo irá mudar e tornar-se num sítio melhor só porque enchemos uma tigela de sopa com lágrimas de desespero pelas perdas daquilo que poderia ter sido? Nada do que possamos dizer mudará alguma coisa, pois a história não regressa para alterar o passado. Para aqueles que perderam os seus sonhos em negócios ou em questões do coração, isso significa apenas que as suas fundações eram fracas e não sobreviveriam por muito tempo. Tente novamente, com fundações mais fortes. Aqueles que se tornaram preguiçosos propositadamente serão descobertos e nunca terão valor. O último ano revelou um oportunismo acentuado tanto em aspetos políticos como sociais. Com a retaguarda plantada em casa, os especialistas dedicaram mais tempo a dar as suas opiniões em como aqueles que continuaram a trabalhar diariamente eram nada mais do que uma força destrutiva da sociedade. Disseram-nos para ficarmos em casa, mas ainda assim queriam a sua comida, bebida e as suas casas aquecidas e à prova de água. Dizem que o Canadá abraça um racismo sistemático porque, de alguma forma, no seu consumo de notícias americanas a conclusão a que chegam é de que deveremos ser todos iguais. Não somos, independentemente da proliferação dos media estrangeiros, nunca nos tornaremos no que eles são. Contudo, chegámos a um ponto onde ninguém quer ser positivo ou falar com medo de serem rotulados como racistas! A liberdade de expressão e democracia diluíram-se severamente em 2020, lideradas pelo nosso sistema político cobarde e levará anos a ser retomada, tendo em conta que muitas das políticas adotadas são de controlo social.
O meu ano de 2020 tem sido um ano de trabalho árduo extremo e conquistas. As dificuldades foram oportunidades para fazer melhor e o julgamento histórico das pronunciações será sentido no futuro e não no passado. O mundo permanece redondo e, todas as manhãs, o sol ainda aparece. Faça deste o seu mundo, assuma as suas responsabilidades pelo que poderá surgir amanhã.

2020 life lesson
If we can believe tomorrow will be better, we can bear the hardship of today (Thich Nhat Halh). As the year end approaches, I wonder how many of us believe that 2021 will be better and that 2020 was worth living. The habits that were acquired this past year will take a long time to get over and they remind me of a dog being trained. Once the schedule is set it is to be followed even if unnatural to human nature. Many of course have flaunted the rules of engagement and communicated to the rest that the world revolves around them.
At the end of each year, we all attempt to provide a view of the world as it was the year past. Does it really matter what our opinion is? Is the world going to change and become a better place because we fill a soup bowl full of tears with our despair about the looses of what could have been? Nothing we say will change anything, as history never returns to change the past. Many have taken advantage of 2020 to profit from the misery of others while others have welcomed the opportunity to become lazy and develop new methods to screw society. For those who lost their dreams in businesses or on matters of the heart it only means that the foundations were weak and would not survive long term regardless. Try again with a stronger foundation. Those who have become lazy on purpose will be found out and will never amount to anything. The past year has meant accentuated opportunism in both politics and social aspects. With rear ends planted at home, pundits dedicated more time in providing opinions on how those that kept working each day were nothing more than a destructive force of society. They kept telling us to stay home but still wanted their food, drinks and their homes warm and watertight. They said that Canada embraces systematic racism because somehow in their consumption of U.S. news the conclusion is reached that we all must be equal. Well, we are not and regardless of how much foreign media proliferation there is we will never become who they are. But we have reached a point that no one wants to be positive or to speak about anything for fear of being labeled racists! Freedom of speech and democracy severely diluted in 2020 led by our cowardly political establishment and will take years to return as many of the adopted policies of societal control will be adopted.
My 2020 has been a year of extreme hard work and accomplishment. The hardships were opportunities to do better and the historical judgement of my pronunciations will be felt in the future and not the past. The world remains round, and the sun still comes out each morning. Make it your world, assume your responsibilities for what may come tomorrow.
Where are you 1955? Maybe being born again would provide all the answers.
