Two Algarve locations among Portugal’s top ten most expensive for property

A new study has filtered down the top-ten most expensive streets and locations in which to buy property in Portugal, and found the country’s most exclusive stretches are in Lisbon, Cascais, the Algarve and Porto.

The most expensive street in Portugal is Rua do Salitre, in the heart of Lisbon, where owners can demand an average of close to €3 million per property.

The study by online real estate marketplace Idealista found the top ten most expensive streets in the country are in Lisbon, Cascais, Quarteira, Porto, Oeiras, Estoril and Almancil.

Second place on the luxury property ranking goes to Avenida Brasil in Cascais, where the average house price is €2,487,647, closely followed by homes on Loteamento Fonte Santa in Quarteira (Algarve), which comes in third nationwide with properties there costing on average €2,450,385.

Porto’s Rua de Sobreiras, Rua Fernão Mendes Pinto in Belém (Lisbon), and Rua a Gazeta d’Oeiras, in Oeiras, are also among the most expensive streets on which to live in Portugal, coming in at fourth, fifth and sixth respectively, followed by Estoril, whose Rua Dom Afonso Henriques is the seventh most expensive road in the country, where the average property price is €1,732,270.

The top ten most expensive streets table in Portugal is rounded off with Rua António Saldanha, in Lisbon (€1,688,363), Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa, in Porto (€1,652,000), and the Vale do Lobo resort in the Algarve (€1,572,090).
To compile the study, Idealista analysed the average price of apartments and villas advertised on the same street.
To avoid misrepresentations in the data, only streets with a minimum of 10 advertised properties on them were considered.
However, this study only shows average street prices, which does not mean that they are the most expensive houses in each market.
