Prime Minister Trudeau, Croatian president visiting Hamilton today
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović will be in Hamilton Tuesday for a reception with the city’s Croatian-Canadian community.
The pair will be hosted by Hamilton East—Stoney Creek MP Bob Bratina.
“As the only MP of Croatian heritage, it gives me great pleasure to welcome the President of Croatia to Hamilton, on the first state visit since the Republic of Croatia achieved independence,” he said in a media release announcing the visit.
“Hamilton has a very active Croatian community that contributes greatly to making Hamilton such a great place to live.”
Grabar-Kitarović started her visit to Canada in Ottawa Monday, planting a tree as a symbol of the strong relationship between the two countries.
The event in Hamilton will include remarks from both leaders and is scheduled to begin at the Croatian Sports and Community Centre of Hamilton on Green Mountain Road East at 6 p.m.
