More French, fewer Brazilians looking to live in Portugal

The number of citizens from other European countries living in Portugal is on the rise, while the number of foreigners from regions such as Africa and Brazil, living in Portugal, is dropping.

Last year Portugal’s borders and immigration authority SEF issued close to 45,000 new residency permits for immigrants wanting to live in Portugal.

The represents growth, after six years of continuous reductions.

Brazilians are at the top of the tables in terms of the biggest foreign population residing in Portugal, while the number of French immigrants grew the most, and Britons dropped to sixth most relevant nationality on the table.
