Toronto man wanted on Canada-wide warrant in downtown Toronto shooting

Toronto police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a Toronto man wanted in a downtown shooting at a bar earlier this month.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. on April 3 in the area of Yonge St. and Gerrard St. W., Toronto police said. When officers arrived, they located a woman with a single gunshot wound to the leg and a man with multiple gunshot wounds.

Both victims were taken to hospital in non-life-threatening condition. Police said a fight broke out between individuals at the bar that led to the shooting.

On Monday, police issued a Canada-wide warrant for Joseph Boachie, 22. He is wanted for several charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of a firearm obtained by crime under, unauthorized possession of firearm CC.

Boachie is also wanted for possession of a firearm/ammunition knowing its possession is unauthorized, pointing a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possessing a firearm while prohibited.

Police said he is considered armed and dangerous and if located, do not approach and call 911. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
